Archery Canada, through its partnership with ASA, is focused on generating interest and further developing 3D Archery in Canada. Initial goals for 2020 were to see our Provincial Partners host ASA style tournaments, but this has been greatly impacted by the ongoing Pandemic.
Inspired by World Archery’s “Beat the Outbreak” competition, we have put together a virtual ASA event, to introduce ASA rules and categories to Canadian archers, as well as create a fun virtual competition nationwide. Any archer is invited to participate and share their scores and results on the AC ASA Challenge Facebook Page . Participants that are Archery Canada members will be eligible for weekly prize draws. If archers participate over all 8 weeks, their names will be automatically entered for a Grand Prize Draw.
Participating archers may shoot the specific weekly target as many times as they choose throughout the week to practice or improve on your score, but only one of those scores can officially be submitted.
DATES: The ASA Challenge will run, starting Oct. 19th 2020 – Dec. 7 2020
ASA Challenge: Rules Overview
SAFETY
From start to finish, each archer’s main priority should be on safety! That means not endangering yourself or anybody else when participating in this archery event. You should continue to follow the advice of your Provincial Government with regards to the COVID-19 regulations at the time of the shoot. As they may change throughout the duration of this competition, all archers should be aware of the changing guidelines.
PARTICIPATE
Any interested archer is invited to participate with any bow style at any (safe) distance. Archery Canada members will be the only ones eligible for any prizes awarded in this event (please see section below). We will record the results of 10 arrows over distances of up to 5, 10 and 20 yards. You can shoot one or all three distances
Print off the target face (See Competition Targets below) or make your own. Targets for the week will be posted each Monday under Competition Targets (below), and in the Archery Canada ASA Challenge Facebook page.
For most weeks of the ASA Challenge, each target will consist of four (4) ASA scoring zones. Zone 1 (8 points), Zone 2 (10 points), Zone 3 (12 points) and Zone 4 (14 points). Outside of the scoring zone is considered a miss and is zero points. For these shoots, only the bottom 12 ring will be in play. The 14 ring will count for scoring, but is optional to shoot. Scoring will be based on one arrow per target.
Some weeks may feature alternate targets with specific challenges, and the rules for those targets will be included when the target is released. The following is a visual of the ASA style target:
