Canadian Para-Archery Athlete brings home 2 gold from 2016 Parapan American Archery Championship

OTTAWA, May 31st 2016 – At the 2016 Parapan American Archery Championship this past weekend in San José, Costa Rica, four-time Paralympian, Karen Van Nest of Wiarton, Ontario won gold in the women's individual open compound bow category and the women's individual open compound master combined category. Van Nest was the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games silver medallist in the women’s open compound bow category.
On the men’s side, two-time world champion Kevin Evans of Jaffray, BC won two silver medals and a bronze. He won his first silver medal in the men's individual open compound bow category. Evans’ second silver medal came in the men’s open compound team event. Paralympians Alec Denys (Douro-Drummer, ON) and Bob Hudson (Leoville, SK) teamed-up with Evans to bring home the silver for Canada. Evans stood again on the podium alongside teammate Karen Van Nest in capturing the bronze medal in the open compound mixed team event.
The Canadian team is now preparing for the Czech Target World Ranking Tournament (WRT), to take place in Nove Mesto nad Metuji, Czech Republic, June 11th to 20th.
