Paris, France – Stage 3 of the Hyundai Archery World Cup kicks off in Paris tomorrow with five Canadian athletes slated to compete. Brian Maxwell (Burnaby, BC), Crispin Duenas (Scarborough, ON), and Conner Sorley (Saskatoon, SK) will represent Canada in the men’s recurve competition, while Stephanie Barrett (Mississauga, ON) will compete in the women’s recurve competition. To round it off, Karen Van Nest (South Bruce Peninsula, ON) will be Canada’s sole representative in the women’s compound competition. This is the final stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup; stages 1 and 2 took place in Guatemala City, Guatemala and Lausanne, Switzerland, respectively.

Canada has earned 1 quota spot in each of the following Tokyo 2020 Olympic events: men’s individual recurve, women’s individual recurve, which also provides the opportunity to compete in mixed team recurve. Following the Hyundai Archery World Cup, Van Nest will move on to compete in the 2021 Para-Archery World Ranking Event in Nove Mesto nad Metuji, Czech Republic, which is the final Paralympic qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
