The TOP (Target Objectif Podium) Camps are a component of the Canadian Archery System, and is a step in the athlete development pathway. The TOP program is intended to provide up and coming archery athletes, with the tools and techniques needed in the transition process into National and International competition. Additionally, these camps are being designed to include coach specific seminars, and provide an opportunity for local coaches to observe and participate in the camps. This would allow for for athlete and coach competency levels to be enhanced in their daily training environments back at their home clubs, across Canada. Developing coaches alongside their athletes, is an essential step in long-term athlete development. TOP has identified the following as their main objectives:
- To deliver a system-based program that guides the coordinated development of our next generation of top compound and recurve archers
- To focus on program quality which would enable athlete development to the highest level, and create a true and sustainable podium potential
- Provide access to world-class technical coaching earlier in the athlete development cycle, and to increase the abilities of personal and club coaches
- To provide integrate performance services, which enhance archer development, including training, competition, and sport science plans.
