Kyle Tremblay Shines in Qualification Round at 2024 Paralympic Games
Paris, France – The Para Archery competition at the 2024 Paralympic Games kicked off at the iconic Les Invalides in Paris, and Canada’s Kyle Tremblay made an impressive start in the qualification round. As the sole Canadian archer in the event, Tremblay stepped onto the field in the early evening, ready to embark on his Paralympic journey.
Tremblay opened strong as the qualifications got underway, dropping only 1 point in his first end, and grabbing the number one seed spot in the first half. The Qualification round sees archers shoot 12 ends of 6 arrows for a maximum score of 720 points. The competition was quite tight in the first half, with many archers being separated in ranking by 1 or 2 points. Tremblay maintained his form through the second half, finishing in 4th place with a remarkable score of 697—a new personal best on the international stage. This achievement surpasses his previous personal best, set earlier this year at the Nove Mesto Para World Ranking Event on his birthday.
“I feel really good about today’s performance. I think the preparation time at the camp in Dijon helped give me the time to fine tune my equipment and acclimatize in my preparation for the games,” said Kyle following his match. “I’ve been shooting really well at the Practice field, and this led to increased confidence in the way I was shooting, my process and my mental game, going into qualification.”
Tremblay will return to the field on Friday, August 31, at 4:20 PM UTC, where he will face Alisina Manshaezadeh of Iran in the 1/16 Elimination Round. This will mark their first meeting in match play competition.
