2025 ARCHERY CANADA ANNUAL AWARDS CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The Archery Canada Annual Awards are intended to recognize those volunteers, archers, coaches and judges who have excelled at a level above that of Provincial awards. These awards show a progression in volunteerism, coaching, judging, management, and shooting from provincial to national level. The 2025 Archery Canada Annual Awards will be announced and presented online.

Nominations for Archery Canada’s annual awards reflect national‐level significance and are intended to originate from national or provincial/territorial leadership. Eligible nominators include members of an Archery Canada Committee, members of the Archery Canada Board of Directors (representing a province or territory), members of a Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization (PTSO) Board of Directors (representing a province or territory), and Archery Canada staff. Nominations from individual registrants will be reviewed by appropriate committee for endorsement.

Provincial / Territorial Reps or Individual Registrants may nominate an athlete who has demonstrated exceptional performance, consistency, and excellence while representing Canada at the national and/or international level. Proposed recipients for Volunteer Pin recognition may also be emailed. Such nominations may be emailed to Archery Canada: awards@archerycanada.ca

Please submit your nomination NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, May 15, 2026, at 5PM EASTERN TIME. The nominations will be reviewed by the Archery Canada Board of Directors.

ANNUAL AWARD DESCRIPTIONS

Canadian Archery Builders Award

This award recognizes individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the growth and development of archery in Canada. It honours leadership, service, and commitment that positively impact the sport at the national or multi‑provincial/territorial level through grassroots development, competitive excellence, advocacy, and strong organizational governance.

Dedicated to: Don Lovo

Volunteer of the Year

This award recognizes an individual whose exceptional volunteer service has had a meaningful and lasting impact on archery in Canada. It celebrates dedication, leadership, and selfless contribution in areas such as coaching, officiating, event delivery, athlete development, and administration at the national and/or multi‑provincial level.

Dedicated to: Greg Durward

Coach of the Year

This award recognizes a coach who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership in athlete and team development at the national and/or international level. It honours excellence in performance, commitment to athlete well‑being, and a coaching philosophy rooted in integrity, lifelong learning, and the values of sport.

Dedicated to: Hank Wiseman – Coach, writer, mentor, and lifelong contributor to Canadian archery

Judge of the Year

This award honours a judge whose exceptional service, professionalism, and integrity have contributed significantly to the quality and development of officiating in Canadian archery. It recognizes leadership, mentorship, and commitment to upholding the highest standards of fair play.

Dedicated to: Sylvio Beauregard – Leader, Olympic official, and champion of Canadian archery judging

Senior Male Athlete of the Year

This award honours a senior male archer who has demonstrated exceptional performance, consistency, and excellence while representing Canada at the national and/or international level. It recognizes athletic achievement, sportsmanship, and leadership across all archery disciplines.

Dedicated to: Frank Jones – Canada’s first international archery representative

Senior Female Athlete of the Year

This award honours a senior female archer who has achieved outstanding competitive success while demonstrating dedication, sportsmanship, and excellence at the national and/or international level. It celebrates leadership and high performance across all archery disciplines.

Dedicated to: Dorothy (Wagar) Lidstone – Pioneer of women’s archery excellence in Canada

Male Junior Athlete of the Year

This award recognizes an outstanding junior male archer who has demonstrated exceptional skill, commitment, and sportsmanship while competing at the national and/or international level. It celebrates emerging talent and inspires continued progression toward senior and elite competition.

Dedicated to: Tom Mack – Influential supporter of junior athlete development

Female Junior Athlete of the Year

This award recognizes an outstanding junior female archer who has demonstrated excellence in performance, dedication to training, and positive leadership while competing at the national and/or international level. It honours future leaders and champions in Canadian archery.

Dedicated to: Joan McDonald – Influential supporter of junior athlete development

Canadian 3D Archery Award

This award recognizes excellence in Canadian 3D archery, alternating between honouring an athlete for international competitive achievement and a builder for exceptional contributions to the growth, development, and organization of 3D archery in Canada.

Dedicated to: Peter Garrett – Canada’s first 3D Archery World Champion

Volunteer Pins

Volunteer Service Pins recognize longterm and exceptional volunteer commitment to archery at the club, provincial/territorial, and national levels. Pins are awarded in progressive levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and, in special circumstances, Diamond—to honour sustained service and leadership.

Bronze Volunteer Recognition Pin

Bronze Volunteer Recognition Pin can be awarded by a Club, Province or Archery Canada, pins are purchased by the Club or Province.

  • An Archery Canada member who demonstrated long-term commitment to organized archery at the club/local level in the capacity of volunteer builder, administrator, official, coach or other supporting role.
  • The chairperson or member of an Archery Canada committee or sub-committee who demonstrated commitment and competency to deliver programmes and/or services.

 Silver Volunteer Recognition Pin

Silver Volunteer Recognition Pin can be awarded by a PSO or by the Archery Canada Board, pins may be purchased by the Province from Archery Canada.

  • An Archery Canada member who demonstrated long-term commitment to archery at the local or provincial level in the capacity of volunteer builder, administrator, official, coach or other supporting role, who has received a Bronze Volunteer Recognition Pin already.
  • The chairperson(s) of a national championship organizing committee.
  • The chairperson(s) of the Canada Games organizing committee.
  • The chairperson or member of an Archery Canada committee or sub-committee who demonstrated exceptional commitment and competency in fulfilling the portfolio’s demands

Gold Volunteer Recognition Pin

Gold Volunteer Recognition Pins are awarded by the Archery Canada Board donated from Archery Canada inventory.

  • An Archery Canada member who demonstrated outstanding, long-term commitment to archery at the local, provincial or national level in the capacity of volunteer builder, administrator, official, coach or other supporting role, who has received a Silver Volunteer Recognition Pin already.
  • A national-level volunteer whose long-term commitment to Archery Canada needs recognition by the membership.

Under special circumstances, the Archery Canada Board of Directors may award Diamond Volunteer Recognition Pin for long time volunteerism.
