Tlaxcala, Mexico – The Canadian Archery Team delivered a strong performance at the 2026 Pan
American Archery Championships in Tlaxcala, Mexico, securing two quota spots for the Lima
2027 Pan American Games and recording several notable results across individual and team
competition.

Canada earned one Recurve Men quota spot and one Recurve Women quota spot through the
Pan American Games individual qualification events.

Aaron Cox earned Canada’s men’s recurve quota spot after advancing to the gold medal match
over teammate Eric Peters, where he secured the quota with a second-place finish in the
Recurve Men Pan Am Qualification event. Virginie Chénier earned Canada’s women’s recurve
quota spot after winning the Recurve Women Pan Am Qualification event. Canada delivered an
especially strong performance in the women’s qualification event. Chénier defeated teammate
Janna Hawash in an all-Canadian gold medal match, while Kylie Oliver won bronze, giving
Canada a complete podium sweep.

The quota spots are awarded to Canada, with final athlete selection for Lima 2027 to be
determined through Archery Canada’s internal nomination procedures, to be published in late
July 2026.

The Canadian Archery Team continued to deliver strong performances in the Pan American
Championships following the qualification events. Eric Peters finished second overall in Recurve
Men, while Virginie Chénier placed fourth overall in Recurve Women.

In the Recurve Mixed Team event, Chénier and Peters advanced to the bronze medal match
and finished fourth overall following a closely contested match. The Recurve Women Team of
Chénier, Hawash, and Oliver also placed fourth, while the Recurve Men Team of Cox, Brian
Maxwell, and Peters advanced past Bermuda in the opening elimination round.

Strong performances were seen in their Compound teammates as well throughout the
competition, most notably with Andrew Fagan reaching the semi-finals and shooting in the
Bronze Medal match. Fagan finished 4th overall at the event. His teammate, Alexander Ignatius,
following a qualification round he wasn’t happy with, had a strong run in elimination matches as
well. Progressing through to finish 7th overall at the Pan Am Championships. Tristan Spicer-
Moran finished the event 24th overall.

On the Compound women’s side, while battling a bout of food poisoning, Bryanne Lameg
battled through the elimination matches to finish the event in 19th place.

The Pan American Championships brought together leading archers from across the Americas
and served as a key qualification event for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
