Canada Adds Another World 3D Championship Medal as Andrea Wiens Claims Bronze in Yankton
YANKTON, S.D. – Archery Canada is celebrating another medal-winning performance on the world stage after Saskatchewan’s Andrea Wiens captured the bronze medal in Compound Women at the 2026 World Archery 3D Championships. Wiens advanced through the elimination rounds and earned her place on the podium, providing Canada with its lone medal of the Championships.
The medal continues Canada’s tradition of success in international 3D archery and highlights the strength and depth of the Canadian field archery community. Competing against the world’s best in Yankton, South Dakota, Canadian athletes delivered several strong performances, with multiple archers advancing to elimination rounds across a range of divisions.
For Wiens, simply reaching the elimination rounds had already exceeded her expectations. “I have had an incredibly fun time. I was proud to just make it to eliminations,” said Wiens on Saturday following the finals. “I could have never imagined that I’d make it into the medal matches. I’m also so incredibly thankful for the Team Canada members that stayed to cheer me on during my bronze medal match! It definitely was a team effort!!!”
While Wiens’ bronze medal headlined the Canadian effort, Team Canada demonstrated impressive depth throughout the tournament.
In Traditional Women, Katie Britton (BC) delivered another of Canada’s strongest overall performances, advancing deep into the elimination rounds to finish 6th overall. Teammate Trudy Dryden (NB) also enjoyed a strong championship, earning a 10th-place finish and narrowly missing a place among the final competitors.
Beyond the individual performances, Team Canada demonstrated the camaraderie and support that have become defining characteristics of the national 3D program. Athletes remained on course to support one another through the final day of competition, with that team spirit on full display during Wiens’ march to the podium.
The World Archery 3D Championships are among the sport’s most technically demanding events, challenging athletes to judge unknown distances and execute precise shots across varied terrain and target presentations. Canada’s performances in Yankton reinforce the country’s ongoing presence on the international 3D stage and provide momentum heading into future world-level competitions.
Archery Canada extends its sincere thanks to the Government of Canada, the Canadian Archery Foundation, Vortex Canada, and the many Adopt-a-Team donors whose generous support helped make participation at these World Championships possible for our athletes.
