Archery Canada’s Ranking List will include Cub Category

From its beginning, Archery Canada’s TOP program (Target Objectif Podium) has been breaking new ground in reaching out to young archery athletes from all parts of the country. The high interest shown for the TOP Program from archers, coaches and other volunteers confirms the desire for archery development in Canada.
Building TOP has also demonstrated how difficult it can be to identify potential archers since they are scattered all over the country. This has showed us that we must find new ways to communicate TOP information and also to scout talent both earlier and more efficiently.
To help scouting for young archery athletes, Archery Canada will implement changes that will help with the identification and development of young Canadian archery athletes, in the coming months. So, as early as it is technically possible, the Archery Canada Ranking List will include the rankings of archers in the Cub categories.
To be ranked by Archery Canada, Cub archers will have to compete in 720 rounds and attain the following criteria:
- Cub Recurve Male and Female
- o Shooting distance: 50 metres
- o Target: 122 cm
- Cub Compound Male and Female
- o Shooting distance: 40 metres
- o Target: 80 cm (full or 6-ring)
As is the case for other categories, Cubs will be able to earn Tournament Tiers and Points towards their scores. For information, contact Marc Gagnon, TOP Program Administrator
