Bronze medal for Canada at World Archery Field Championships

YANKTON, SD – Team Canada concluded competition at the 2026 World Archery Field Championships with a podium finish as Christopher Kent-Rodgman of Saskatchewan earned a bronze medal in the Barebow Men division.

Kent-Rodgman’s result was Canada’s top performance at the championships and the nation’s only senior medal. Entering the elimination rounds as the 10th seed, the Saskatoon archer advanced through a challenging field to secure a place on the world championship podium, finishing third behind Italy’s Giuseppe Seimandi and Sweden’s Erik Jonsson.

Chris’s achievement is particularly remarkable given his rapid rise in the sport. From discovering archery with his family only a few years ago to standing among the best field archers in the world, his dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence continue to inspire archers across Canada.

Team Canada was represented across senior and U21 competition categories throughout the week, with athletes gaining valuable international experience and posting several strong results. The Canadian men’s team of Christopher Edward Kent-Rodgman, Greg Moore, and Dustin Watson finished ninth in the team competition, while Canada’s U21 Compound Mixed Team of Sydni Keichinger and Bennett Nelson recorded a fifth-place finish.

The 2026 World Archery Field Championships brought together the world‘s best field archers in Yankton, South Dakota, providing a showcase of international competition across recurve, compound, and barebow divisions. For Canada, the championships will be remembered for Kent-Rodgman’s breakthrough bronze-medal performance and another strong showing by Canadian athletes on the world stage.
