Canadian Para Archers Embark on Final Paralympic Qualifier at Fazza World Ranking Event in Dubai

OTTAWA,ON – Canada’s para archery athletes are gearing up for the 8th annual Fazza Para Archery World Ranking Event in Dubai, UAE, scheduled to take place from March 2nd to 6th. Canada has often attended this early season world ranking event, however this year’s event holds additional significance as it serves as the final Paralympic Qualifier and Canada is seeking to earn additional quota spots for this summer’s Paralympic Games in Paris. .

The team consists of:

Athletes:

  • Shawn Matheson: Recurve Men
  • Carolyn Lindner: Recurve Women
  • Chris Waterman: Compound Men
  • Kyle Tremblay: Compound Men

Team Staff:

  • Linda Price
  • Soha Mahmoud

Kyle Tremblay, who has already secured a Paralympic quota, will participate in the event, not for quota acquisition, but as part of his ongoing developmental preparation for the Paralympic Games. Kyle earned a quota position following his performance at the Para Pan American Games last fall in Santiago, CHI where he won the Bronze medal.

In addition to Kyle, both Shawn and Chris bring international experience to this team, both having participated in the 2023 World Archery Para Championships.   It will also serve as Carolyn Lindner’s inaugural international event, marking a significant moment in her archery career.

Stay tuned for updates on their progress and achievements throughout this event!
