Canadians advance in Pan American Championships and Continental Qualifier in Mexico

The Canadian Recurve Women and our Para Compound Women archers have all moved on from the qualification rounds yesterday to the elimination rounds which began today. “For all of the archers, it felt amazing to shoot outdoors again and everyone was eager to compete after such a long break.” said coach Linda Price. ” They went in strong and produced solid results.”

In the first elimination rounds of the Pan American Championships, Stephanie Barrett, Tania Edwards and Virginie Chenier all moved on to the semi-finals which will take place Thursday afternoon, while Mariessa Pinto lost in her elimination round following a one arrow shoot off. The Women’s Team, comprising Edwards, Barret and Pinto will begin elimination matches tomorrow morning with the hope of moving on to the medal matches. In Compound Women’s Open, Karen Van Nest won in her quarter final elimination round for the Pan American Championships / Continental Qualifier. The Olympic Qualification tournament elimination matches get underway Friday, with Para Archery qualification concluding Friday morning and Saturday morning for the Women recurve archers.
