First Eliminations Rounds for Individual Competition are Complete
Tokyo, JPN – Crispin Duenas has won his 1/32 final against Dan Olaru of Moldova (6-0) and moved onto the 1/16 final against Md Ruman Shana of Bangladesh. He won the match (6-4), but it came down to the final arrow!
“The conditions in the finals venue were quite variable today, Crispin’s straight set win in the first match was better shot than the score indicates,” says Shawn Riggs, National Team Head Coach. “Although the second match went to a full five sets, he shot some high scoring ends. We are really excited about what Saturday has in store.”
Crispin’s quarterfinal match against Florian Unruh from Germany is on Saturday July 31 at 10:09 a.m. JST (Friday July 30 at 9:09 p.m. EST).
Stephanie Barrett gave it all she had in the 1/32 finals, but unfortunately lost to Yasemin Anagoz from Turkey. She had finished 46th in the ranking round and faced a tough opponent in 19th-placed Anagoz.
Stephanie won her first set (26-24), but unfortunately lost the match to Anagoz (6-2). It was a well shot match with very close scores in the last two sets.
“Stephanie had a solid showing against a strong opponent,” remarks Riggs. “She was able to win the first set and shoot some solid scores late in the match. Unfortunately, today it was not enough to win this match in Tokyo.”
Stephanie, Archery Canada and the rest of the country is incredibly proud of your effort and performance! Crispin, we’re excited to see your match on Saturday (Friday EST)!
