Tania Edwards has been selected to join teammates at the 2019 World Championships

OTTAWA, ON — Tania Edwards, of Aurora ON, has been selected to join teammates Virginie Chénier (Montréal, QC), Crispin Duenas (Toronto, ON), Brian Maxwell (Vancouver, BC), and Eric Peters (Ottawa, ON)  at the 2019 World Championships, beginning in one week in s’-Hertogenbosch Netherlands.

The World Championships, will be Tania Edwards second international event in 2019.  Edwards finished in sixth place individually, and third as a member of the team at the PanAm Games Qualifying event in Santiago, Chile.

Archery Canada had provided an extended qualifying period, hoping to field full teams for both genders at the World Championships.  National Coach Shawn Riggs, wanted to capitalize on every opportunity for female archers, who were on the cusp of making the minimum criteria, as there were several events scheduled nationwide, in which they could compete. In the end Canada will send two women and three men to compete in the recurve division at the championships.

Edwards will join the rest of the team, who are currently attending a training camp in Lilleshall UK, in s’-Hertogenbosch for the Championship event, running June 10th-16th.

Archery Canada is also fielding a full Compound Team at this year’s World Championships. Competing in Men’s Compound will be Brendan Von Richter (Vancouver BC), Robbie Nott (Ilderton ON), and Austin Taylor (Winnipeg Manitoba). For the women’s Compound, Fiona Maude (North Bay ON), Katie Roth (Rockwood ON) and Fiona McClean (Belle River, ON), will be competing

Support staff include Shawn Riggs (Kitchener, ON) as National Coach for the men and women's recurve team, with Alan Brahmst (Toronto, ON)  as High Performance Advisor. Sean McKenty (Belle River, ON), Non-Olympic Program Coordinator, will act as coach for the Men’s Compound Team,  while Kathy Millar (Winchester, ON) will be the head coach for the women’s Compound Team.
