OTTAWA (September 25, 2026) – Archery Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have announced the roster of Team Canada archery athletes nominated to compete at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The two (2) athletes are:

• Recurve Woman – Alison Langley (Ottawa, ON)
• Recurve Men – Yashveer Bains (Brampton, ON)

Alison and Yashveer qualified for Team Canada based on their performances and results during the Selection trials that took place from Aug. 28-Aug 30 at the Archery Canada Centre of Excellence, in Cambridge, Ontario.

The Youth Olympic Games will be the final international event of the season for both Langley and Bains, both having competed earlier this season at the Youth and Master’s Pan Am Championships in Medellin, Colombia and Langley competing at the World Field Championships, currently ongoing, in Yankton, South Dakota.

High Performance Manager of Archery Canada, Kylah Cawley, said: “We are proud to see Alison and Yashveer selected to represent Team Canada at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. Their selection reflects their effort and dedication in archery. We look forward to seeing what they can achieve, and we can’t wait to cheer them on as they take this next step on the world stage.”

Archery will take place November 6 – 10 at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium.

Team Canada’s archery team for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will be supported by the National Coach, Olympic Programs, Junior Bolanos.

The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) are the world’s largest multi-sport event for high-performance young athletes aged 15 – 18. Dakar 2026 will begin on October 31 and will end on November 13, 2026, and will feature 2700 athletes. Dakar 2026 will be the fourth edition of the Summer YOG and the first in Africa. It will have a fully gender-balanced sporting program, and will feature 25 competition sports in addition to 10 engagement sports.

Prior to being named to Team Canada, all nominations are subject to approval by the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Team Selection Committee following its receipt of nominations by all National Sport Organisations.
